The Lion That Refuses to Starve

Dear Calista

I bear the likeness of a starving lion. There is a hunger in me when I think of you, like a fire that refuses to die. I do not merely wish to know you; I want to understand the depths of you, to taste the sweetness of your soul, and to reside there eternally. Every waking moment… I carry this desire… to stand where you are, to take the weight you hide from others and bear it without complaint. Your scars do not frighten me. I would kiss them without hesitation. And if your heart is heavy, let it rest against me. If you asked for a diamond, I would take it from the earth with my own hands, bleeding if I must, because what you desire would become my pursuit. I pray that you understand the degree your countenance has etched itself into my soul. There is something in you that calls to me, a call my heart rushes to answer. What I feel for you is deliberate. Chosen. And I will not pretend it is anything less.
