War Within the Self

Dear Calista

Dissonance is hell incarnate. When the flesh wages war against the spirit, when the mind wages war against the body, it’s as if your being maimed by demons, crushed beyond repair. Bars surround you, and lava is underfoot— inescapable. It is said an increase in wisdom leads to an increase in sorrow. Sometimes I wish I acted on desire and emotion, to just feel and not need to know why. Being aware of one's weaknesses leads one to growth, but awareness is a muscle that, when trained, allows you to see it in others. This mind makes you question whether what we have built is genuine, or simply… an illusion facilitated by our weakness? Dreadful.
