What Remains When You Are Gone
Dear Calista
Time is beautiful.
In time, wine ages,
its flavor is ever more superb.
Lacerations heal
and the heart softens.
And you,
your beauty magnifies
in the passage of time.
Your soul, more luminous than any star.
The distance between us
eats at me every day,
like a parasite feasting on my innards.
Even though you’re not before my eyes,
you're all that I see.
It is the hope
that I may see you again
which gives my actions purpose.
